#Day29of100, #Day30of100, #Day31of100 and #Day32of100… I’ve spent my free time these past few days finishing @georginacutts longbow. I fitted the nocks, varnished and wrap and tied the grip leather. Last thing that was needed – a string!
During this longbow project I have learnt so much into what’s needed to be a bowyer and that’s a lot of patients is needed for all steps in the process. A lot of mistakes made, but I’m pleased with my first attempt. Onto the next one!
Centaura Bowmen’s ground is over an hour drive from home on a good day, so it would be an early start for us to make sure we got there in good time. It is a ground we know quite well, situated outside Derby. For those interested you can read a previous shoot report here.

I’m still at the field, just without my recurve – instead I’m attempting to make a laminate longbow. It’s going to be 66" long, ~28# @28" for @georginacutts and finished with a mother-of-pearl inlay and a leather and silver wire grip. If I’m to craft anything, it has to be at least a little bit fancy!

Throwback to the greatest “almost Robin Hood” from around 3 years ago. Long a longbow archer from my club at that time missing in the same place twice at 80 yards and splitting the arrow in two!
